Enneagram Type 1

Watchmen (2019) - Based loosely on the comic world of the same name, Watchmen is an HBO limited series dealing with racism and violence that erupts in Tulsa, Oklahoma 34 years after the original Watchmen (comic) story takes place. Enneagram Ones are likely to enjoy the driven, justice-seeking main character, played by Regina King, while also feeling challenged by the history and present injustice to which the show helps draw attention.

Enneagram Type 2

Friends (1994) - Though many people are already familiar with the show, Friends is about 6 friends living in New York City. The close-knit relationships between everyone in the group and the evolution of the characters over the 10 seasons make this a great show for people-oriented Enneagram Twos. For both those who grew up watching it and those who are just discovering it through streaming services, Friends is nostalgic and inviting for anyone needing to feel more connected to other people - even if they’re fictional characters.

Enneagram Type 3

Succession (2018) - This dramedy is full of sibling rivalry, money, and politics. The show centers on a family competing to take over the family business - a billion-dollar media company. Enneagram Threes are likely to enjoy the simultaneous intensity and lightheartedness of the show and the many rises and falls of each character throughout the seasons.

Enneagram Type 4

Dickinson (2019) - Dickinson is an Apple TV+ original series about Emily Dickinson, who’s portrayed as very imaginative, independent, and authentic. The show has several modern elements and heavily highlights the constraints that Emily Dickinson likely felt during the 19th century. Enneagram Fours are likely to enjoy the mixture of drama and comedy featured in the show while feeling connected to the main character’s passion and personality.

Enneagram Type 5

Chernobyl (2019) - This HBO historical drama mini-series about the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster takes the audience through the event and its aftermath in an engaging way. There are elements of mystery as the characters work to understand how the incident occurred, what they can do to fix it, and how long the devastating effects will last. Enneagram Fives are likely to enjoy seeing the event from this perspective and may also feel inspired to read more into the Chernobyl disaster after watching.

Enneagram Type 6

Veronica Mars (2004) - This noir-style series centers on a teenage private investigator who solves cases in her hometown. Enneagram Sixes are likely to relate to Veronica’s sense of loyalty and skepticism - she is very dedicated to and protective of those she cares about, but carefully approaches new people and situations. Veronica Mars has had such a large following over the years, it was given a movie in 2014 and even came back for another season in 2019.

The Chef Show (2019) - A unique spin on a typical cooking show, The Chef Show follows Chef (2014) director Jon Favreau and chef Roy Choi as they travel around the U.S. to experiment with food, learn from other pros, and experience new ways of cooking. Enneagram Sevens will appreciate the show’s sense of creativity and optimism when approaching cooking and food, as well as the interesting celebrities that are featured throughout.

Breaking Bad (2008) - Breaking Bad centers on a high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with stage-three lung cancer who begins making crystal meth to help set his family up for a financially successful life after he’s gone. Enneagram Eights will likely enjoy the intensity of this show, as well as the antihero nature of the main character.

The Great British Baking Show (a.k.a. “The Great British Bake Off”) (2010) - This friendly-natured baking competition is an easy-to-watch show which glorifies both baking and good sportsmanship. Enneagram Nines are likely to enjoy getting to know the bakers, learning more about the creative side of baking, and comfortably falling into a watch routine for 94 episodes (not including the spin-offs and special episodes).
